Digital Photography Work is Published
PHS Digital Photography students in teacher Jeanne. Bjork's class participated in an international book project. The book will be sold to raise money for a school in Africa. Their work (click here) is featured on pages 16-18 and includes the following student artists: Shannon Douglas, Megan Becker, Morgan Patterson, Mackenzie Barton and Aspen Johnson. 
Student Artwork in Permanent Monument
The American Legion Post 71 is completing a monument and walkway that ten current and former Pewaukee High School students worked on two years ago under the guidance of retired teacher Lee Warnes. The public is invited to the dedication and unveiling on Saturday, May 25 beginning with the PHS band at 1:45 p.m.

Relay for Life Raised Thousands!
The most successful fundraiser in the history of Pewaukee Schools, Relay for Life raised over $16,000. The top student fundraiser was Hayley Blau ($520) and the top team was the Hawkeyes, headed by team captain Kelsey Morgan, and raising $1,393. Key Club advisor Jennifer Klemme reported that 200 students participated in the all night event that allowed almost no sleep

PHS Joins Habitat for Humanity May Blitz
For the second year in a row, Pewaukee High School technical education teachers Mike Spoerke and Pete Colwell and the construction/home improvement class worked May 7 and 8 for Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity and United Parcel Service’s May Blitz week. Pewaukee High School students Stanton Raasch, Robert Blask, Dan Wettstein, Jacob Roseland, Luke Baar, and Brandon Desjardin worked on the renovation of existing homes in Milwaukee's Washington Park neighborhood. The students painted and resided two homes this year. They had the opportunity to meet coach Ron Roenicke and Ryan Braun as the Milwaukee Brewers also joined in the effort.

Horizon Teachers Use Donors Choose
Wow! Due to generous people, the Donors Choose requests have been met. Thank you to all who provided: sixth grade has 2 mini iPads, fifth grade has wireless mice, and fourth grade has a tablet!
PHS Students Chosen for WI Honors Choir
Choir students sophomore Nick and freshman Paige were selected for the 2013 Wisconsin State Honors Choir. They competed with over 1,500 students for the 400 spots in the Honors Project. They will attend a camp in June and perform in the Overture Center at the Wisconsin Music Educator's Convention in Oct. Click here to listen to Paige singing her selection for the honors choir.

Dr. Sternke Named Superintendent of the Year

The Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators announced the selection of Dr. JoAnn Sternke, Superintendent of the Pewaukee Public Schools, as Wisconsin’s 2013 Superintendent of the Year. Since its inception over 25 years ago, the Superintendent of the Year program has become widely acknowledged as the most prestigious honor a school system leader can attain. Applicants are measured against criteria such as successfully meeting the needs of students; personal and organizational communication; professionalism; participation in local community activities; and an understanding of regional, national, and international issues. What is a School Report Card?
On Oct. 22, 2012 the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) released new School Report Cards to the public.  These report cards are the new public accountability reporting instrument developed by the DPI to communicate school performance to communities.
